Tehran Declaration on Building the Information Society in Asia and the Pacific (Regional Plan of Action)

Reaffirms the global commitment to building an inclusive and development-oriented Information Society, transforming the digital divide to digital opportunities, establishing universal access to ICTs (particularly in LDCs), respecting cultural and linguistic diversity online, and preventing unethical and abusive uses of ICTs. Also reaffirms the regional commitment to the Tokyo Declaration, the Geneva Plan of Action, and the Shanghai Declaration. Officially adopts the “Regional Action Plan towards the Information Society in Asia and the Pacific”, and calls upon all regional stakeholders and the ESCAP, the UNDP/APDIP, ITU, and UNESCO to assist in its implementation.
