Abstract:
"Kuwait, located at the northern part
of the Arabian Peninsula, has a
population of around 2.5 million
people and borders with Saudi
Arabia (S) and Iraq (N and W).
Kuwait is a leading exporter of
petroleum and has been allocating
the prots for numerous
infrastructure projects and social and
economic improvements.
With a GDP - per capita of over
$23,000, the Kuwaiti government has
spent billions of dollars to construct
an extensive roadway system and an
advanced telecommunication
network. Today, the city's skyline is
dominated by more than two dozen
ve-star hotels and resorts and
skyscrapers. Kuwait also has several
major infrastructure projects in the
pipeline and the government aims to
invest more than $3.5 billion to
increase tourism, including an
articial island of 43 sq km and a
deep-water port on Bubiyan Island.
Kuwait boasts an ecient and
modern transportation system. The
country’s major gateway, Kuwait
International Airport (KIA), is located
in the southern outskirts of the
Kuwait city metropolitan area. Due to
the growth of trac at the airport, an
expansion program is well underway,
which will eventually increase the
capacity to 20 million passengers per
annum at a cost of $690 million in rst
phase of the program."
