Abstract:

Background information about the importance of telecommunications.The World Conference on International Telecommunication 2012 (WCIT-12) will review the International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs). Governments are re-evaluating policies as technology has changed over time becoming more privatized and liberal. Includes ten articles outlining important telecommunication issues: emergency telecommunication; privatization; deregulation; and competition within ICTs.
