Abstract:
This article compares and analyzes environmental and cyber threats to the private sector, evaluating the failures of these current approaches. It then delves into applying business ethics, CSR, and human rights literatures to examine both the bottom-up and top-down frameworks to create sustainable cyber security. Lastly, it evaluates the tools used by both the public and private sectors to promote sustainability. It is this article’s argument that a variety of concepts and tools originally developed for sustainability can be applied to better protect against future cyber attacks. They argue that this is a time sensitive issue that calls for action rather now as later, and urge action.
