ICTs for e-Environment: Guidelines for develoing countries, with a focus on climate change

Abstract: 
Indicates trends in ICT and shows how they impact environmental change. Trends include natural disaster response, international development, new technologies and ICTs for environmental observation. Guidelines for developing countries with supporting research reducing greehouse gas emissions (GHGs) and natural resource use and increasing energy efficiency. Use ICTs as replacement for travel, dematerialization and reduced energy consumption. Must take long term effects of ICTs into account, including life cycle assessments (LCAs), broadband networks, web-based services and geographic information systems (GIS) support environmental research. ICT will help achieve the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs).
