Abstract:
The two most successful ICT services of the past few years were mobile cellular and broadband. Yet without a regulatory framework that fosters investment, the potential of ICTs to impact economic activity remains unrealized. There is a strong correlation between market competition and the increasing number of subscriptions to mobile cellular and broadband technologies. This report summarizes global trends in the following areas: regulation, competitive markets, ownership, licensing, spectrum management, infrastructure sharing, VoIP, universal access to broadband, enforcement, and dispute resolution & appeals. Data is displayed in graphs and pie charts.
