Executive Order: Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade

Abstract:
This Executive Order by U.S. President Barack Obama in March 2015 outlines his goals for promoting sustainability among executive departments and agencies that report to the executive branch of the U.S. government. This executive order is a response to a lack of policy related to reducing emissions and the carbon footprint of government institutions. This paper outlines a path forward for reducing greenhouse gas emissions for all government agencies and a plan for improving overall efficiency in the operations of government agencies to improve sustainability.
