Abstract:
Explains the ways in which U.S. cybersecurity systems can further be strengthened to combat both foreign and domestic attacks on the US. Discusses the technical elements of a secure computer network system and the various classification degrees of cyber attacks. Several policy provisions are recommended to help foster continued technological innovation and research in the areas of information technology (IT) in the US. Identifies the classes of cyber-defense as: conservative defense and language-security defense. Overall advocates a new approach to examining the science of cybersecurity through the use of cryptography, information theory, and conventional physical sciences.
