Water, Oil, Food – A Crisis for Saudi Arabia and the World

Abstract:
This blog talks about the water crisis in Saudi Arabia, explaining how this is leading to a food crisis as well. It reflects on desalination as a source of clean water but explains how this may not be a very sustainable resource since desalination is energy intensive and Saudi Arabia gets this energy from oil which is a finite resource. Finally, other possible sources of food are delineated.
