A comprehensive background on the organizational mission of UNESCO and its history of providing technical advice and counsel on areas pertaining to science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy. The organization's central mission revolves around promoting interdisciplinary connections across science, technology, and innovation disciplines, to enhance sustainable development practices. Lists the foundational success stories that UNESCO has been instrumental in orchestrating for Member States in Africa, Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Highlights the science reform program objectives that UNESCO was founded upon in 1996 and how it has incubated pilot programs in developing countries that support science reform and research.
