Uber covered up a cyberattack last year that exposed data of 57 million riders and drivers

Abstract:
In late 2016, Uber was the victim of a large scale cyber attack due to internet architecture problems. 50+ million users' data was stolen off of Uber's Amazon cloud servers. The hackers extorted $100,000 from Uber for stolen information and hurt Uber's reputation. This article details the steps that Uber needed to take to increase security and the backlash the company faced for attempting to cover up the incident.
