Abstract:
Examines the relevance of security technology issues and the WWW in the banking sector of India. Defines phishing as a “way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details illegally as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communications.” Reviews cyber crime safety mechanisms Indian bank websites can use such as: password encryption, virtual keyboards (touch screen keyboard layouts or sensing areas, optically projected keyboard layouts, or optically detected human hang and finger motions), secured socket layer, and SMS alerts. Examines security features of five Indian banks: State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNG), Central Bank of India (CBI), Bank of Baroda (BOB), and Allahabad Bank. Concludes all banks use same safety features.
