Abstract:
In response to the 2004 tsunami off the coast of Sumatra, Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) members met to discuss the important role of ICTs in early disaster prediction, prompt dissemination of disaster information, and disaster relief telecommunications systems in the region. Recognizes that the impact of disasters can be reduced through high technology warning and information response systems, advanced operation plans, and international cooperation through frequency coordination of radiocommunication systems.
