Abstract:
This article examines the agricultural problem of how fisheries have impacted herbivorous fish populations and community structures on coral reefs. It demonstrates that biomasses of some types of herbivorous fish are significantly reduced in areas of heavy fishing, and that heavy fishing helps some species grow disproportionately. It concludes with baseline numbers for future conservation regulations.
