Fisheries Sustainability in Oman

Abstract:
This research paper studies the consequence of changes in the absolute and relative abundance of many important commercial species in Omani waters. This phenomenon is being called Overfishing. The author conducted following methods in order to illustrate the topic: the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), Economic Sustainable Yield (ESY), Maximum Carrying Capacity (MCC) and the Economic Rent of all six coastal states in Oman. The collected data for all coastal states indicate over fishing, especially in Albatinah and Dhofar states. Meanwhile, the rest of states such as Muscat, Alsharquiah, Musandam and Alwusta indicated normal fishing levels.
