Emerging Cyber Threats Report 2013 - Georgia Tech Institute Summit

Abstract:
Focuses on the changing landscape of cybersecurity at both the national and international level. Introduces the growing influence of non-state actors in championing their political causes in cyberspace through aggressive online actions. Also mentions the pros and cons associated with the development of new communication technologies like smartphones, which can both aide a business in its trade practices and undermine its security. Additionally, the author emphasizes the security risks associated with cloud computing and securing the storage of large data that is critical to the federal government, military, and private industry sectors. The proposed solution to this national security risk is to involve security researchers from across the government and private sector in developing a proactive security plan that safeguards the Internet and core physical foundations.
