The Complex Science of Cyber Defense

Abstract:
The ever-growing cybersecurity threats have led to a significant amount of solutions, mostly technical in nature, created to fix vulnerabilities and anticipate the attacks before they happen. Technical solutions, however, can never be enough, given that today's cyber issues contain social, political, economic and organizational components. Developing a solution to address this, therefore, requires addressing the heterogeneous nature of cyberspace, in which there are multiple sub networks, each comprised by a set of agents that in turn have their own policies and incentives.
