Abstract: 
UNEP recognizes that industrial development will only be truly sustainable if it is built on firm ecological foundations. This is why, in 1975, UNEP created the Industry and Environment center UNEP IE - to promote cleaner and safer industrial product ion and consumption patterns. It also focuses on EST implementation.
