Abstract:
There is a growing acknowledgment that current life-saving humanitarian funding and programming are neither sufficient nor sustainable, and that a more development-oriented approach is necessary to build resilience and reduce the need for humanitarian assistance over time. In fact, and while acknowledging that humanitarian and development assistance are not mutually exclusive, a robust and coordinated development response that complements humanitarian efforts and fosters resilience has become essential.
