Abstract:
Competition in mobile and Internet services was available in 90% of the world by 2010. The number of Internet users and mobile cellular subscriptions grew worldwide over the past decade. The services with the strongest growth in competition of the past 10 years include: international gateways, basic voice services, leased lines, and wireless local loop. Since 1991, privatization of countries' main fixed-line operators increased rapidly, with activity slowing down the past few years. Broadband access has become a national policy priority in 82 countries around the world.
