Dark web crime markets targeted by recurring DDoS attacks

Abstract:
Abstract: The article explains the recent announce that one of the largest marketplaces on the dark web, Dream, will be shutting down. This was due to persistent DDoS attacks with ransom asked for. This has lead to a string of DDoS attacks on other marketplaces. There are 3 theories as who is carrying out the attacks. First, It could be one attacker with copycats it is hard to understand a motive for this but is still a possibility. Second, competition in dark web marketplaces turns to sabotage as marketplaces try to knock each other out of business. Lastly, it is law enforcement but the attack uses a vulnerability in TOR itself and has not lead to arrests so it seems unlikely. The article concludes with the fact that the online marketplace is changing. Keywords: Dark Web, Crime, Cyber, DDoS,
