CLEAN-India Network

The Community Led Environmental Action Network is a monitoring and advocacy movement involving high school students in urban areas in the monitoring and assessment of environmental quality and in creating public opinion for improving it. CLEAN uses portable kits (JalTARA and PavanTARA) created by Development Alternatives for measuring water and air quality. The data collected by the school children are collated and mapped by Development Alternatives and returned to the children as ammunition they can use in advocating action by their communities. CLEAN also organizes numerous environmental fairs and events to spread awareness of these issues throughout the country.
