The year ahead in cybersecurity law

Abstract: 
In changing times, cyber security is a hot topic of discussion in business politics today. This article looks at big legal cases regarding strategic security and big data privacy and describes practical execution in terms of upcoming legal actions with the potential to shape the realm of cyber law. An ongoing debate of the struggle between technological dependence in cyber topics and politics concerning the cyber realm is detailed in the Carpenter vs. United State case, specifically having to do with frameworks for providing proof of personal data malpractices. This article details how the constitution and previous laws deem the action of this case and points out areas that must be updated to keep up with the changing era. One of these new perceptions to take into account is the fact that personal data does not mean the same thing today as it did decades ago. Another case analyzed is the Microsoft vs. United States case regarding US jurisdiction to search overseas data stores.
