Covanta Burnaby Incinerator

The Burnaby Incinerator is located in the commercial/industrial area of South Burnaby. Strict environmental monitoring shows that it is one of the cleanest facilities of its kind in North America. For the Burnaby Incinerator, waste to energy means garbage to steam. Since beginning operations in 1988, approximately 240 thousand tons of garbage have been burned each year, producing approximately 700 thousand tons of steam annually.
