Abstract:
The Research Applications Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research is the main division responsible for aviation weather projects. The Research Applications Program "has been the recognized leader in aviation weather research and technology since 1980," involved in "combining scientific knowledge of weather phenomena and cutting-edge technology to create new detection and forecasting capabilities, and has pioneered efforts to apply these new technologies around the world." More recently, RAP researchers have expanded focus of their work to surface transportation, precision agriculture, water resources management, military test range and missile launch support, virtual reality visualization systems, and various other technologies and products.
