Vaccination strategies for epidemic cholera in Haiti with implications for the developing world

Abstract:
In October of 2010 a virulent cholera strain began to spread in Haiti which could have been better checked if vaccines had been applied strategically. This report aims to discover the most effective vaccination strategy for epidemic cholera. Using a mathematical transmission model, it concludes that, with limited vaccine quantities, concentrating vaccine in high risk areas is always the most efficient strategy. Based on this finding, the report also provides corresponding policy recommendation regarding epidemic cholera.
