THE SECURITY IMPLICATIONS OF CLIMATE CHANGE FOR THE UN SYSTEM

Abstract: 
"Explores the security implications of climate change. Presented is a summary of the adverse impacts of climate change, an analysis of their security implications, and policy recommendations." Discussions regarding the adverse effects of climate change including physical effects and socioeconomic effects. Security Implications that can lead to Violence and Armed Conflict, Natural Disasters, and Destabilizing Forces. Vulnerable states like the least developed nations, weak states, and undemocratic states. The article then proposes solutions that the UN System can employ like emissions mitigation, adaptation, strengthening disaster work, preventive diplomacy, and improving early warning systems.
