Rio De Janeiro Commitment (Regional Plan of Action)

Considers the Bavaro Declaration and reaffirms the principles of the Declaration and the Action Plan from the First Phase of the WSIS. Makes 33 declarations on issues ranging from building a development-oriented information society to facilitating the digital inclusion of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The main theme of the declarations centers on utilizing ICTs as an instrument for social, political, and economic development. This declaration acts as a regional position and contribution to the 3rd Meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Tunis Phase of the WSIS in November 2005.
