RIO 2012 Issues Briefs

Abstract:
Rio 2012 Issues Briefs gives policymakers and stakeholders the opportunity to review and discuss issues relevant to themes of the conference. These include, but are not limited to, a green economy, and the institutional framework for sustainable development. The relevance of social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development is increasing, and these issues serve as another dimension of the discussions at Rio+20. Developing clear development goals can be meaningful if the human dynamics are taken into account, and if the goals are tailored to how the people affected will react and adapt. There are also increasing arguments for the ‘global development framework’ to focus on all countries, not just the poorest countries. This opens the discussion for ‘dynamic interaction and partnership.’
