An Overview of Logging in Cameroon

Abstract:
This report addresses the issues associated with the rapid development of Cameroon forests due to clearing for agricultural settlements and as a result of logging. Data is provided on the benefits and costs of logging, both in terms of economic returns and environmental trade-offs. Progress in implementing new forestry legislation that could mitigate the environmental and social costs of development, as well as generate greater tax revenues is also discussed.
