Internet Governance Forum (IGF): The First Two Years

Abstract: 
Covers the first two IGF meetings, which took place in Athens in 2006 and Rio de Janeiro in 2007. The inaugural meeting in Athens succeeded in establishing the organization and logistics of future meetings, implementing the WSIS Tunis Agenda, and creating “Dynamic Coalitions” of stakeholders interested in particular issues. The five main themes from the two meetings were: openness, security, diversity, access, and critical Internet resources. Includes background papers that address the role of developing countries, intellectual property rights, the multi-stakeholder process, world business, broadcasting, and innovation. Includes transcripts from the preparatory processes, proceedings, and workshops of the two meetings.
