International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)

Abstract: 
Formed in 1998, ICANN enables the existence of a single global Internet and works to maintain the Internet's secure and stable nature. Through a multi-stakeholder model, ICANN coordinates the "global Internet's systems of unique identifiers."‌ Its responsibilities include coordinating domain names, IP addresses and AS numbers, and protocol port and parameter numbers for the Internet.
