Individuals' Internet Security Perceptions and Behaviors: Polycontextual Contrasts Between the United States and China

Abstract:
Not much is known about where the sensitivity of user's perceptions on online security stands. Along with that, not much is known about the behaviors with respect to national and individual attributes to these perceptions. The paper pays attention to two theoretical bases, first a 'polycontextual lens for the cross-national comparison of user's security behaviors in the U.S. and China', and the second being the process of putting into context the motivation theory for online security behavior. The study goes into detail of observations collected from the U.S. and from China.
