Globalization, trade and migration: Undermining sustainability

Abstract:
Industrial countries with advanced technology are fundamentally unsustainable as they use the resources available to the full capacity of their current technological state. Migration to countries of greater material standards is the cause for voluntary migration. Places larger loads on ecosystem and can lead to civil unrest over shortage of resources. Deficits in some locations are replaced by trade and the idea that there is surplus in another area. Often leads to notion of greater carrying capacity than there really is.
