A functional Method for Assessing Protocol Implementation Security

Abstract:
Examines information security vulnerabilities from the perspective of robustness problems. Robustness issues stem from a flawed source code that contains anomalies (i.e. foreign input elements) which disrupt and degrade the integrity of the system. An automated testing system method was established to test the robustness of 49 select software programs, the results of which are explained in detail in the paper. While this quantitative testing method has proven to be successful in scoring system vulnerabilities, it is not an evenly applied rubric that can be uniformly and objectively tested on each project due to its processing design.
