Decoding the Bombshell Story for China

Technological and cyberspace concerns are at the forefront of current issues between the United States and China. Though it has mostly been de-bunked, the Bloomberg story about China’s capabilities of infecting American IoT devices through the global supply chain reinforced a movement by the Trump administration to decrease reliance on Chinese goods in economic and industrial sectors, with the ultimate goal of severing all ties with China in these areas. A nearly impossible objective to attain, perhaps, but one that nonetheless underscores the growing conflict between the United States and China in information technology and digital security.
