Climate Change Mitigation in Southern Africa: Botswana Country Study

Abstract:
This country study of Botswana analyzes the baseline economic, energy development and greenhouse gas scenarios, and abatement costs of plausible greenhouse gas mitigation options in the energy sector of Botswana. Possible mitigation options and data from the transport, agriculture, household, and industry and manufacturing sectors are also discussed. This study is one of three country studies that were carried out under the Danida project "Climate Change in Southern Africa: Phase 2", which began in 1996 paralleling the "Economics of Greenhouse Gas Limitations" project of the UNEP/GEF.
