The Challenges of Sustainable Industrial Development in Egypt

Abstract: 
Realizing the importance of manufacturing, Egypt looks at industry development as vital for economic and social development and for increasing the growth rate and improving the quality and productivity of the industrial sector. Industrial development in Egypt is characterized by two main trends. The first is the establishment of new technologically competitive industries, and the second is the expansion and renovation of existing industries to increase their productivity. This report provides an overview about the challenges, constraints and obstacles in enhancing the contribution of industry to sustainable development.
