Why cybersecurity is the new priority for CFOs

Abstract:
There is a mismatch between the expectations of IT professionals C-suite executives in enterprises these days with regards to cybersecurity risk. Many technology professionals believe that their C-suite does not take cybersecurity seriously, but many C-suite executives think that they are pouring too many resources into cybersecurity. Since the role of the CFO is also to ensure business continuity and sustainability, cybersecurity should be their top concern. Cybersecurity should not be viewed in the traditional manner as a cost center, but rather as an investment in customer relations management. Therefore, CFOs should work with the cybersecurity officers to build cybersecurity strategies that fit the organization’s risk appetite. The risk appetite should be constantly checked, especially with the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, so that companies understand their current risk exposure.
