The reporting process starts with the definition of sustainability goals for the community, followed by a scoping stage. Subsequent steps comprise choosing a conceptual framework for reporting, preparing a list of potential sustainability indicators, evaluating them by a variety of criteria, choosing a final set of indicators, analyzing their results, presenting the results to an intended target audience, and then periodically assessing indicator performance."
