Treaty of Lisbon: Amending the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty Establishing the European Community

Abstract: 
In order to keep up with current and future needs of the EU, the Treaty of Lisbon updates and amends current EU and EC treaties. The Treaty of Lisbon encourages democracy and transparency in the European Parliament. Also, it establishes more efficient voting rules and working methods while maintaining and strengthening "rights and values, freedom, solidarity and security" in the EU. It enables Europe to continue to be a global actor.
