Socio-Economic Costs of Salinity

Abstract:
Farming systems and resources is the based focus on the socio‐economic study of this report. In the literature review and the analysis sample of data are used from famers. The results show salinity is becoming a threat to farmers income and the increasing cost to the farmers results loss of crop land (unsuitable for cultivation) and agricultural values. The damage cost resulting from the Stalinization of the groundwater in relation to domestic water use by farmers and a shift in water source is also estimated. A linear programming (LP) model is developed for each type of farm in salinity classes in order to determine the current constraints at farm level and to be able to test the adoption of the corrective measure to salinity.
