The Rotterdam Convention

Abstract: 
The Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Procedure Convention controls the trading of hazardous substances by placing control of what is imported into the hands on the importing country. The Convention lists chemicals deemed hazardous, which are used both in industry and in agriculture, and describes a proper procedure of communication between the importing and exporting country. This website provides the text of the PIC Convention, reports from meetings and Conferences, publications relating to PIC, a list of hazardous substances, and several other related documents. The text of the Convention is available in English, French, Arabic, Russian and Spanish.
