NATO After Lisbon

Abstract:
A brief review of the key decisions, policies, and documents approved at the 2010 NATO Summit in Lisbon. Modernizing defense, strengthening crisis management, and broadening partnerships are key priorities. Afghanistan continues to be NATO's top priority. The development of a missile defense capability to protect all NATO European nations was decided. Allies also agreed to enhance cyber-defense capabilities, review and improve NATO's overall defense capabilities, and develop a more inclusive approach to crisis management that involves greater interaction between civilians, military actors, NGOs, and governmental organizations.
