Atmospheric Reactive Nitrogen in China: Sources, Recent Trends, and Damage Costs

Abstract:
A comprehensive assessment of the reactive nitrogen species emission in China was conducted using a full cycle analysis, which include ammonia, nitrogen oxides and nitrous oxide. The total reactive nitrogen emission doubled in the past thirty years. The sources and several hotspots were identified. The health damage in China caused by those reactive nitrogen was also estimated, which reached US$19-62 billion in 2008.
